Whether they’re a hip hop dancer who owns every room they walk into, a contemporary dancer who feels everything deeply and moves like it, a tap dancer with rhythm in their bones, a classically trained ballet lover, or a jazz dancer who was simply born to perform, their passion is real, it’s raw, and it deserves to be captured. Our studio dance portrait sessions are built around your dancer and the style that makes them come alive. No stiff poses, no generic backdrops, just a session that feels as individual and alive as they are.

Every dancer is different, and every session we shoot reflects that completely. We don’t do generic. We don’t do one size fits all. Before every studio session we take the time to get to know your dancer, their style, their music, their personality, the moves they’re most proud of, and we build the whole shoot around that. If they want to bring their own music, brilliant. If they’ve got a signature move they’ve been perfecting for months, even better.

Our studio is their space for the session, a place where they can move freely, express themselves fully, and just do what they do best while we capture it. The result is never just a dance photo. It’s a portrait of a young person completely in their element, the focus, the freedom, the joy, the fire! Whether it’s a single powerful image or a collection of shots that tell the full story of who they are as a dancer right now, every session is as unique as the person in front of the camera. And that, honestly, is exactly how it should be.

We know how tricky it is with with dancers and their busy school and college schedules, never mind the dance lessons and performances, which is why we have lots of dates and times to suit you and your family. Grab something that works for you and your dancer, and that means we have even more fun when we get together in the studio.

LET’S GET THIS SHOW ON THE ROAD

When you arrive at our studio, we’ll help everyone settle in and feel at ease from the very beginning. We’ll guide your dancer every step of the way and before you know it, they’ll be showing off their skills in front of the camera! Our sessions last about an hour, during which we’ll have them posing and dancing and having fun. We’ll bring out their real love for their dance, so the images reflect exactly who they are at this point in their life.

THE BIG REVEAL

We’ll schedule a Zoom Reveal and Ordering Session so you can see your images for the first time. We’ll help you choose your favorites and talk about where they might look best in your home. From there, our team works behind the scenes to refine each selected portrait. We’ll polish the light, soften any distractions, and give every image a beautiful and finished feel.

YOU’VE GOT MAIL

Everyone loves receiving something special in the mail, and your images will arrive at your doorstep from our world-class labs in Italy and Germany, ready to fill your walls. QUESTIONS

Some dancers come in costume, others opt for casual clothes. Whatever your dancer chooses, be sure to wear clothing you can move freely in so we can capture your best dance moves. And don’t forget your pointe shoes or tap shoes. We also have a changing room, so if you want portraits in your everyday look, we can do that too. Families, be sure to take this opportunity to jump in at the end of your dancer’s session for an updated family portrait.

Yes! We love for you to bring your mom, your uncle, your cousins. Let us know who is coming when you’re scheduling your session with our studio coordinator so we can be prepared. We’ll work with you to find an appointment that will allow your group the time they need in front of the camera.

Each session lasts approximately 45 minutes to an hour depending on the number of people or pets in your session. Portrait sessions are by appointment only, Thursday through Sunday each week.

We will schedule a Zoom Reveal and Ordering Session at a convenient time within the week following your portrait session so you can view your photos and make your portrait selections in the comfort of your own home. A member of our portrait team will guide you through the selection process, putting together a custom package that best suits your home, aesthetic and budget.

Richard Hill Studio is North Texas’ Premiere Black and White Studio. We are known for our classic and timeless B&W style. However, for our clients who prefer color, just let us know during your Zoom Reveal & Ordering Session and we’ll provide you with those color add-on options.

Of course! We adore our furry friends here at the studio. Please let us know in advance if you would like to include a pet in your session.
