Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

Our website may use cookies to improve your browsing experience. Cookies are small text files stored on your device that help us understand how people use our website so we can make it better. You can choose to disable cookies through your browser settings at any time, though this may affect how some parts of our website function.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

What Information We Collect

When you fill in an enquiry or booking form on our website, we may collect the following personal information:

  • Your full name
  • Your email address
  • Your contact telephone number
  • Any additional information you choose to share with us about your portrait session

We only ever collect the information we genuinely need in order to get in touch with you and discuss your session. Nothing more.

Why We Collect Your Information

We collect your personal information for the following reasons:

  • To respond to your enquiry about a portrait session
  • To discuss and plan your session with you
  • To send you any relevant information about your booking
  • To follow up after your session regarding your portrait order
  • To occasionally send you information about upcoming sessions, offers, or news from Richard Hill Studio — but only if you have given us permission to do so

We will never use your information for any purpose other than those listed above.

Who we share your data with

We do not sell, trade, rent, or share your personal information with any third parties for marketing purposes. Ever. Your details are yours and yours alone.

In some circumstances we may need to share limited information with trusted third party service providers who help us run our business – for example, our website platform or email service provider. These providers are carefully selected and are required to handle your data securely and in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

How We Store Your Information

We take the security of your personal information seriously. Your details are stored securely and are only accessible to members of the Richard Hill Studio team. We do not store your information on any unsecured or publicly accessible systems.

We will only keep your information for as long as is necessary – typically for the duration of your relationship with us as a client, plus a reasonable period afterwards for administrative purposes.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. You are always in control of your personal information. You have the right to:

  • Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct any information that is inaccurate or out of date
  • Ask us to delete your personal information at any time
  • Withdraw your consent to receive marketing communications from us at any time

To exercise any of these rights, simply get in touch with us and we will respond promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in the way we work or changes in data protection law. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. We encourage you to check back periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information.
